PE and Sports Premium
The Government has committed to spend over £450 million on improving physical education and sport in primary schools. This extra funding is allocated directly to individual primary schools and it is the responsibility of the Headteacher and the PE Subject leader to allocate the money to fund PE and sport provision in the school in the best possible way.
Schools can choose how they use the funding, for example to:
-
hire specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers during PE lessons
-
provide places for children in after-school sports clubs and holiday clubs
-
pay for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport
-
run sport competitions in school and with other schools
As part of the PE Premium funding the school subscribes to the South Cambs Schools Sports Partnership and has the support of a Primary PE Specialist for half a day a week. The school has invested in a variety of enrichment activities including Bikeability for all year 6 children, Balance ability for EYFS and Year 1, Top up Swimming, Play Leaders training and a whole School intra-school competitive events.
